I recently had to troubleshoot an issue in which Apache 2.4 running on a WAMP server would intermittently hang on requests and eventually the service would lock-up and need to be restarted. After some searching around the web I was able to discover what the issue was and thought I shared the solution in case anyone else runs into this issue.
The fix is pretty simple. Going from 2.2 to 2.4 the Apache team changed how the web server talks to Windows for recycling sockets and the default settings produce hanging in certain server setups. All you need to do is drop the following lines into your httpd.conf file.
AcceptFilter http none AcceptFilter https none
Then just restart the Apache service and your WAMP server should stop hanging on requests.
